The Chontal Lodge opened its doors in 2004. At that time there were no places to stay in the area, there was also no job offer in the place, which is why the family decided to try to generate a source of income that will not imply having to leave their children alone in the house, so they decided to offer a place where people could camp. With the arrival of some kayakers who arrived and had nowhere to stay, they offered an alternative option and with it what it is today was born.
