La Leona Eco Lodge
La Leona Eco Lodge
The Leona Eco Lodge was born as a dream of a visionary. Salma Polanco and Walter Morales invested their lives in this beautiful project and taught nature's respect and love to their 7 children, who later help develop the lioness Eco Lodge. Don Walter Morales arrives on the Osa Peninsula when road access in the area did not exist. He was a pilot and came to transport products to supply a local market located near where the Leona Eco Lodge is today. In 1969, while first flying over Corcovado, he fell in love with the unique beauty of the place. where the mighty greens of the rainforest merge with the turquoise blue color of the Pacific Ocean. Don Walter returned to Puerto Jiménez in 1976, no longer as a commercial pilot but as a rice crop fumigator. During that period he established relations with the families that live north of Puerto Jiménez. These families told him about the tremendous wealth of biodiversity in the Corcovado area. In Don Walter's vision of showing the world of tourism the enormous potential of the area, he saw 10 years earlier. He bought various land between 1984 and 1989 and began the process of his dream. It was until the year 2000 that the family was able to start the project in which the Leona Eco Lodge became.
